SBB Design is a botique consultancy that fits in the space between industry experts and large consulting firms. With an entreprenurial flair, we approach each problem as if it were part of our company. While originally a mechanical design company, we changed with the times when it became apparent that the engineering approach works well for solving analytic business problems.
The premise of our firm is that solutions to commonly encountered problems already exist either in another functional discipline or in another industry. We are dedicated to finding those 'crossover' solutions.
The following is a small showcase of some final 'functional products'. These individual tools were designed to assist with the transition of a client to Microsoft Dynamics and ultimately help them understand the trade-off between working capital and profits for a specific segment of their business. The final solution uses computer model techniques borrowed from bio-engineering to solve a complex inventory and manufacturing optimization problem.

This app converts AS400 (or any other ERP) sales journal data into a format suitable for importing directly into Microsoft Dynamics. It adds in a visual confirmation of each product's history, creates an overlay of the last 3 years of sales, and shows a heatmap of hot/cold sales months. The created file is in Excel format.
View ProjectThis app calculates the costs associated with holding inventory for an extended period of time. From a finance perspective, inventory is an asset with a corresponding debt that increases in value by the cost of capital. This lets a manager run scenarios and see the effect on working capital and profits. A common use would be to compare the anticipated sales at full price versus discounting to move more inventory
View ProjectManaging build-to-order versus build-to-stock decisions are typically made as a general management philosophy. This app compares the effects of each decision on working capital, profits, warehouse space, labor hours, and a number of other important metrics associated with operations and warehousing.
View ProjectThis is a full simulation of a company's entire production. Handling up to 10,000 products, it generates a set of 'efficient capital' production scenarios that lie along an efficient frontier of working capital and gross profits. Each production scenario will be constrained by the amount of warehouse space, production capacity, and labor hours on a monthly and annual basis. This predicts optimum manufacturing schemes for each product and generates ideal inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and working capital requirements.
